Sami Vänskä (born September 26, 1976 ) is a Finnish bass player .
Career
Sami Vänskä taught himself to play bass and played in various bands. In 1994 he was one of the founding members of the Gothic / Doom Metal band Nattvindens Gråt , with whom he released two albums. The band finally broke up in 1997. In the meantime, the keyboardist of Nattvindens Gråt Tuomas Holopainen had founded the symphonic metal band Nightwish . Before recording their second studio album Oceanborn , Holopainen brought Vänskä into his new band, with whom he released two studio albums. In 2001 Vänskä had to leave the band after a difference of opinion between him and Holopainen. In addition, Holopainen accused Vänskä that his interest in the band would wane. Vänskä, who was replaced by Marco Hietala , then concentrated on the blues rock band Root Remedy . With this band he released three studio albums before he left the band in 2008 and has not been musically active since.
