The time at Nightwish

Olzon as the singer of Nightwish at a concert in Melbourne, Australia in January 2008

After Nightwish separated from her former singer Tarja Turunen at the end of 2005, they were looking for a new singer. The band publicly asked for applications. In January 2007 the band announced that they had decided on one person from over 2000 demo recordings sent in, but did not introduce Anette Olzon as the new singer until May 2007.

Olzon had sent a cover version of the Nightwish song Ever Dream to Tuomas Holopainen , the songwriter of Nightwish. He asked her shortly afterwards to interpret the instrumental versions of the songs Nemo , Higher Than Hope and Wish I Had an Angel . Holopainen liked these recordings too; however, he asked Olzon for some patience with regard to a final commitment. Only a year and a half later - and after several personal meetings between Olzon, Holopainen and the other band members - she became the new singer of Nightwish.

On October 1, 2012, Olzon left the band "by mutual agreement".

Solo career

On December 16, 2013, their single Falling was posted to the iTunes Store and a video was posted on YouTube .

In addition, her new record label EarRecords published the single Lies on February 13, 2014 on the video platform MyVideo and one day later on other websites worldwide.
