Samson Shukardin

Samson Shukardin OFM (born January 29, 1961 in Hyderabad , Pakistan ) is a Pakistani religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Hyderabad in Pakistan .

Life

Samson Shukardin joined the order of the Franciscans and made temporary profession on August 2, 1987 and perpetual profession on August 2, 1991 . He was ordained a priest on December 10, 1993 .

After the ordination he was active in the pastoral care and various leadership positions of his order. In 1998 he graduated from Sindh Law College with a degree in canon law . From 2004 to 2008 he headed the Franciscan Custody of Pakistan and was President of the Conference of Major Superiors of Pakistan. Since 2010 he has been Vicar General of the Hyderabad Diocese in Pakistan .

On December 16, 2014, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Hyderabad in Pakistan. The Apostolic Nuncio in Pakistan, Archbishop Edgar Peña Parra , ordained him episcopal on January 31 of the following year. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Karachi , Joseph Coutts , and his predecessor Max John Rodrigues .
