The integrated community Wathlingen is a joint community in the district of Celle in Lower Saxony . Three municipalities have come together in it to carry out their administrative business. The administrative seat of the joint municipality is in the municipality of Wathlingen .

Joint community structure

The integrated community Wathlingen was created in the course of the regional reform in Lower Saxony with effect from January 1, 1973. The communities Adelheidsdorf , Nienhagen and Wathlingen were assigned to her.

Joint council

The council of the Wathlingen community consists of 30 councilors. This is the specified number for a municipality with a population between 12,001 and 15,000. The council members are elected for a five-year term by local elections. The current term of office began on November 1, 2011 and ends on October 31, 2016.

The full-time mayor of the joint municipality is also entitled to vote in the council of the joint municipality.

Joint mayor of the municipality

The full-time mayor of the combined community Wathlingen is Wolfgang Grube (SPD). In the last mayoral election on May 25, 2014, he was re-elected as incumbent with 80.1% of the vote. His opponent, Ralf Überheim (FDP), received 19.9%. The turnout was 49.9%. Grube began his further term on November 1, 2014.
