Samuel Mraz (born July 2, 1998 ) is an Austrian Nordic combined athlete .

Career

Mraz, who starts for the SG Klagenfurt, completed his first international competitions as part of the Alpine Cup in September 2013 . In the following years he entered this series of competitions regularly. At the 2015 European Olympic Winter Youth Festival in Tschagguns , Mraz won gold in the team, silver in the individual over five kilometers and the bronze medal in the Gundersen competition over ten kilometers. Mraz was also successful at the Nordic Ski Games 2015 in Seefeld by winning two silver medals. On February 13, 2016, he made his debut in Ramsau in the Continental Cup , where he directly reached the points. Together with Florian Dagn , Noa Ian Mraz and Bernhard Flaschberger , he became Junior World Champion for the first time two weeks later at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Râșnov . He defended this title a year later at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Park City together with Marc-Luis Rainer , Florian Dagn and Mika Vermeulen .

At the end of September 2018, Mraz was nominated for a Grand Prix competition for the first time . On his debut in Planica , he won six points and ended the summer in 57th place overall. In winter 2018/19 Mraz took part in all individual competitions of the Continental Cup . His best result was seventh place in Planica. In addition, he and Thomas Jöbstl , Christian Deuschl and Bernhard Flaschberger took third place in the team competition in Ruka .

Personal

Mraz attended the Stams ski school . His brother Noa Ian was also a Nordic combined athlete. He currently lives in Klagenfurt .
