Florian Dagn (born December 10, 1999 ) is an Austrian Nordic combined athlete .

Career

Dagn completed his first international competitions as part of the Nordic Ski Games of the OPA 2014 in Gérardmer . While he was thirteenth in the student competition, a day later he finished seventh with the team. In the following years he regularly took part in competitions of the OPA , where he reached the podium of the Alpine Cup several times and won the silver medal with the team at the Nordic Ski Games 2015 in Seefeld . In February 2016, the multiple Austrian youth champion took part in the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer , but just missed the medal ranks as fourth in the Gundersen singles. Together with Julia Huber and Clemens Leitner he won the bronze medal in the ski jumping mixed team competition. Ten days later, Dagn was together with Noa Ian Mraz , Samuel Mraz and Bernhard Flaschberger for the first time Junior World Champion at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Râșnov .

At the beginning of winter 2016/17, Dagn competed in the Continental Cup in Klingenthal . In his second participation in a Continental Cup competition, he reached third place. Two days later he just missed his first win in second place. Because of these achievements, Dagn was appointed to the World Cup team in mid-January 2017 . On his debut in Val di Fiemme , however, he did not start cross-country skiing after a good jump run. After winning the gold medal with the team at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Park City a few weeks later , Dagn only faced the competition in lower-class competitions for the rest of the season.

In the 2017/18 Continental Cup , Dagn placed at the top several times and finally finished the season in eighteenth place overall. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2018 in Kandersteg , Dagn once again defended the junior world championship with the team. In addition, he finished seventh in the Gundersen individual over ten kilometers, which was his best individual result at the Junior World Championships. A year later he won the bronze medal with the team at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Lahti . Although Dagn struggled with form weaknesses in the individual, he was able to celebrate his first Continental Cup victory in the team in February 2019 together with Philipp Orter , Christian Deuschl and Paul Gerstgraser .

Personal

Dagn attended the Bundesgymnasium and Sportrealgymnasium HIB Saalfelden . He currently lives in Reith near Kitzbühel .
