Samuele Dalla Bona (born February 6, 1981 in San Donà di Piave ) is a former Italian football player .

Career

society

Chelsea FC

In October 1998 he came to Chelsea from Italy at the age of 17 ; he had previously spent two years in the youth department of Atalanta Bergamo . A change in the legal situation for the sale of youth players under the age of eighteen at the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio , the Italian football association, made the change possible. The midfielder quickly got involved in the youth and reserve team and led the internal goalscorer list with sixteen goals for the reserve in the 1998/99 season. Dalla Bona was also named "Young Player of the Year".

He made his professional debut on November 24, 1999 in the 1999/2000 UEFA Champions League against Feyenoord Rotterdam when he came on for Didier Deschamps in the 87th minute . After the departures of older midfielders like Dennis Wise and Gustavo Poyet in 2001, more opportunities and after good performance, he came to 32 league games and two goals this season. But in the following season he turned down a contract extension and asked to be put on the transfer list so that he could return to Italy. As a result, he fell out of favor and was condemned by coach Claudio Ranieri to train with the reserve team.

AC Milan

After Dalla Bona announced his decision to return to Italy, he received numerous offers from various clubs, including FBC Unione Venice , which offered a transfer fee of five million pounds sterling . But he saw no sporting prospects there and therefore decided against moving to Venice.

In July 2002 he finally moved to AC Milan for a million pounds . His league debut followed on October 26 in a 6-0 win over FC Turin , when he came into play in the 76th minute for Gennaro Gattuso . In his first season he and his team won the double, consisting of the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Champions League 2002/03 , which AC Milan won on penalties against league rivals Juventus Turin .

However, Dalla Bona could not establish itself due to the top-class line-up in midfield with players like Gennaro Gattuso , Clarence Seedorf or Andrea Pirlo and therefore had several loan stations, starting at FC Bologna in the 2003/04 season. The following season he played on loan with US Lecce and in the 2005/06 season with Sampdoria Genoa .

SSC Naples

After he returned to Milan at the end of the loan station Sampdoria Genoa, he was loaned to the Serie B club SSC Napoli just a few weeks later . He played only four league games for AC and made a free transfer, although his contract was still for a year. There Dalla Bona had a positive start and showed solid performances in Serie B. This also included a goal from a wonderful direct pickup just before the penalty area during the game against FBC Treviso . With Napoli he made it to Serie A , but after the squad was strengthened with a few players, he found himself regularly on the bench.

On February 4, 2009, Dalla Bona announced that he was planning to leave Naples and was hoping for a trial session with West Ham United to sign a contract there and play with his former team-mate from Chelsea Gianfranco Zola . For this reason, he rejected a contract offer from US Triestina . But in the end there was no signing of a contract with West Ham and after an unsuccessful trial at Fulham FC , he returned to Naples.

In August he was awarded to Iraklis Thessaloniki for one season in Greece . However, Dalla Bona did not manage to integrate into the team, and there was also a lack of fitness. Therefore, the loan period was terminated prematurely in December after only two league games as a substitute. On February 1, 2010 he was loaned to third division team Hellas Verona until the end of the season. At the end of the season he could only book two league appearances for himself.

For the 2010/11 season he was awarded to Atalanta Bergamo until the end of the season . There, too, he did not find his way around at all and only came across a single assignment in the Coppa Italia.

AC Mantova

On August 31, 2011, the last day of the summer transfer period, his contract with Naples was terminated and he signed an annual contract with AC Mantova .

National team

Dalla Bona played for the U-15, U-16, U-18 and U-21 national teams of Italy . Between 1996 and 1998 he played 27 times for the U-15/16 and scored nine goals (all U-16). On March 5, 1998 in the 11-0 victory over Andorra, he scored four times. He has ten goals and two goals for the U-18s. In 2002 and 2003 he made nine international matches for the U-21 national team.
