San Juan Bautista (Aldealpozo)
The church of San Juan Bautista in Aldealpozo , a Spanish municipality in the province of Soria in the autonomous community of Castile-León , is a Romanesque parish church from the 12th / 13th centuries. Century. In 1949 the tower from the 10th century was declared a monument ( Bien de Interés Cultural ).
history
The church consecrated to John the Baptist is located on the main road on the outskirts. The 18 meter high tower from the 10th century was built by the Moorish occupiers as a watchtower ( Atalaya ) and was reused as a church tower when the church was built at the end of the 12th and beginning of the 13th century . The access to the three-story, rectangular tower is at the height of the first floor.

The single-nave church building made of quarry stone has a semicircular apse to which a sacristy was added at a later time . The portal on the south side is framed by simple archivolts . The Romanesque baptismal font with round arches and a frieze is worth mentioning from the church furnishings .
