Laguna Huachucocha

The district of San Luis is located in the province of Carlos Fermín Fitzcarrald in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district has an area of ​​247 km². The 2017 census counted 11,156 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 11,618, in 2007 12,112. The district administration is located in the provincial capital of San Luis at an altitude of 3131  m with 2298 inhabitants (as of 2017).

Geographical location

The district of San Luis is located on the eastern flank of the Cordillera Blanca and extends over the southwest of the province of Carlos Fermín Fitzcarrald. The Río Chucpin (or Río Ashnocancha) flows north along the northwestern district boundary.

The district of San Luis borders in the southwest on the district Chacas ( province Asunción ), in the west on the districts Acochaca (province Asunción) and Yanama ( province Yungay ), in the northeast on the district Yauya , in the southeast on the district San Nicolás and in the south to the districts of Cajay and Huari ( Huari Province ).
