history

The village of Sosnka was mentioned for the first time in 1269, followed by the church (1323) and the parish of Sosnka in the Peterspfennigregister from 1346-1358 in the dean's office of the Zator diocese of Krakow . The name, in the past Sosnka , Sonka and Sanka , is topographical and is the diminutive form of sosna , German pine .

Between 1581 and 1625 the local church became the seat of a reformed parish on the initiative of the owner of the village, Adam Świerczowski . From 1618 to 1624 the new Roman Catholic church was built by Zygmunt Świerczowski. Until the early 20th century, the village was divided into two parts: Wielka Sanka (about Groß-Sanka, with the church) and Mała Sanka (Klein-Sanka with the manor).

In the third partition of Poland in 1795, Sanka became part of the Habsburg Empire . In the years 1815-1846 the village belonged to the Republic of Krakow , in 1846 it was annexed again as part of the Grand Duchy of Krakow to the countries of the Austrian Empire. From 1855 Sanka belonged to the Chrzanów District .

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Sanka became part of Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . It then belonged to the Krakow district in the General Government .

From 1975 to 1998 Sanka was part of the Kraków Voivodeship .
