Sankt Anna is a district of the Upper Swabian town of Mindelheim .

geography

The place is about four kilometers east of Mindelheim on the Tannenbichel and is the easternmost part of the Mindelheim city area. Sankt Anna is connected to the main town by a cul-de-sac that ends in town and joins the B 18 . Sankt Anna is completely surrounded by forest, which is only cut through by the municipal road and the Tiefenbach that runs past the village .

history

Bishop Heinrich of Augsburg gave Adam von Frundsberg , and the city of Mindelheim permission in the former Einödsiedlung the Chapel of St. Anna in Höselwang to build, built about 1526 and St. Anna was consecrated. It was expanded just 60 years later. Even before the renovation and expansion in 1720, the place developed into a popular place of pilgrimage in the 17th and 18th centuries . After secularization , the chapel was demolished in 1816 and replaced by a new building in 1926.

At the chapel there is a restaurant that is now frequented as an excursion restaurant.
