Unggenried is a district of the Upper Swabian town of Mindelheim and part of the formerly independent municipality of Gernstall .
geography
The place is about two kilometers southwest of Mindelheim and is connected to the main town by the B 18 . To the north of the village is the Unggenrieder Weiher , to the west are the so-called Sieben Quellen , a forest area in which seven springs arise that supply the Brunnenbach with water. The places Weihermühle and Vogelhäuser belonged to Unggenried .
history
Unggenried was first mentioned in a document in 1258. At that time, the place was owned by Hermann von Jungsriet. Around 1470 the settlement comprised four courtyards and a small estate with a pond. The chapel of St. Franz von Paula was built next to a former hermit's house before 1726 . On October 1, 1971, the place came together with the community of Gernstall to the district town of Mindelheim.
