history

On September 1, 1946, the Berlin-Buckow-West branch was established by Cardinal Konrad Graf von Preysing , Bishop of Berlin.

Chaplain Bernhard Wenke with the title of Kuratus was appointed as the first pastor for this area . On October 13th the first Holy Mass took place in the Protestant parish hall. From 1951 money was collected for a church building. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on October 13, 1951 . On October 19, 1951, the patronage name Maria Viktoria was rejected by the Episcopal Ordinariate. The pastor immediately had to choose a new name and chose Theresa of the Child of Jesus . The foundation stone of the church with this name at Warmensteinacher Straße 23 was laid on November 28, 1951. The topping-out ceremony was celebrated on November 10, 1952.

The consecration of bells took place on July 17, 1960. The bell, cast by Petit & Gebr. Edelbrock in Gescher , Westphalia, weighs 550 kg, has a diameter of 98 cm and a height of 80 cm plus a crown of 14 cm. It sounds in the strike note dis ′ ′ and bears the inscription: "Sancta Maria ora pro nobis".

In 1966 the church was demolished. The foundation stone for the successor building was laid on September 1, 1966, and the topping-out ceremony on November 25, 1966. The new church is built from exposed concrete in the brutalist style. In 2005 the church was completely renovated.

Building description

The rectangular, simple hall church is a plastered masonry building . The facade is asymmetrical, the side portal tower on a square floor plan with wall panels emphasized like pilaster strips protrudes slightly from it. The butterfly roof consists of a monopitch roof that slopes down over the nave to the room-wide choir . There it rises again, offset by a strip of skylights that indirectly illuminates the altar area.

Interior

The church has had a multi-part nativity scene since 1973, which is based on the nativity scene figures of the Will-Heringen monastery (between Salzburg and Linz). The carver is Gottfredo Moroder from Ortisei / Val Gardena.

The organ is also from 1973.
