Santo Rocco Gangemi (born August 16, 1961 in Messina ) is an Italian clergyman, Roman Catholic archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Santo Gangemi received on June 28 in 1986 by Archbishop Ignazio Cannavò in the Cathedral of Messina , the ordination .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on January 27, 2012 titular Archbishop of Umbriatico and Apostolic Nuncio to the Solomon Islands . The episcopal ordination donated him the Cardinal Dean , Angelo Cardinal Sodano , on March 17 of that year; Co- consecrators were Calogero La Piana SDB , Archbishop of Messina-Lipari-Santa Lucia del Mela , and Giovanni Angelo Becciu , substitute for the State Secretariat .

His motto Vide ut sileas (“See that you are quiet”) comes from the book of Isaiah ( Isa 7,4  EU ). On March 24, 2012, he was also appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Papua New Guinea . He resigned from his offices on April 16, 2013.

On November 6, 2013, Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Guinea . On February 5, 2014, he was also appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Mali . On May 25, 2018, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in El Salvador .
