Sarah Wayne Callies (* 1. June 1977 in La Grange , Illinois as Sarah Anne Callies ) is an American actress . She was best known for her role as prison doctor Dr. Sara Tancredi in the US TV series Prison Break . She gained further fame through the role of Lori Grimes in the television series The Walking Dead .

life and career

When she was one year old, Callies moved her family to Honolulu , Hawaii . During her youth she was very interested in acting. She played in numerous school productions at the Punahou School before she left school in 1995.

She never wanted to pursue an academic career like her parents, who were both professors at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa , but preferred to become an actress. After graduating from high school, she went to Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire . In connection with her studies, she continued her interest in the theater . In 1999 she left college without a degree in gender studies and a senior fellowship in indigenous studies . She then attended Denver's National Theater Conservatory , where she completed her Master of Fine Arts in 2002 . On June 21 of that year, she married Josh Winterhalt, a martial arts coach she had met in college. Their first child was born in July 2007. She also adopted a son.

Callies moved to New York City where she got her first television role on NBC's Queens Supreme as Kate O'Malley . She played her first leading role as Detective Jane Porter in the Warner Bros. -Series Tarzan . After many guest appearances in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit , Los Angeles Police Report and Numbers - The Logic of Crime , she got one of the leading roles in the television series Prison Break, produced by Fox . Due to a pregnancy, however, she could not be seen in the third season of Prison Break , so the producers were forced to change the plot. In the first two episodes of the third season, she was also doubled. In addition to her television projects, Callies can also be seen in the films Whisper and The Prophecies of Celestine . Callies appeared in the horror series The Walking Dead from 2010 to 2013 . In 2014 she was in front of the camera for the disaster film Storm Hunters .

In German it is mostly dubbed by Antje von der Ahe .
