The Saubach is a 2.9 km long orographically right tributary of the Enz in the Baden-Württemberg district of Ludwigsburg .

Run

The Saubach rises about 900 m north of the Tamm train station in the immediate vicinity of the Ludwigsburg – Bietigheim railway line at an altitude of 237  m above sea level. NHN . Initially the stream flows in a north-easterly direction, after about 500 m it turns in a wide arc to the north-west. In doing so, it canalised under the railway line and then passed the broken forest near the right bank. After another 1.2 km of flow, the stream reaches the southern location of Bietigheim-Bissingen . Now flowing mainly in northerly directions, the Saubach reaches the Enz after a further 700 m. In this section, the brook is canalised for longer stretches. The confluence with the Enz is 182  m above sea level. NHN , so that the difference in height between the source and the mouth is 55 m. This results in a mean bed slope of around 19 ‰.

Old upper reaches and tributaries

In earlier times, the Saubach began its open course a little east of the Tamm train station in the now overbuilt Gewann Brächter , where it was initially either called the Biegelbrunnen or the drainage of a Biegelbrunnen . At the arc to the northwest, a 400 m long ditch flows from the east from the Gewann See . About 350 m before its mouth and already in the settlement area of Bissungen , the Gänslesbach flows from the left, coming from the south, which rises west of Tamm and is about the same length as the Saubach up to there.

Catchment area

The Saubach drains a 9.471 km² catchment area via Enz, Neckar and Rhine to the North Sea . With a little under 325  m above sea level. NHN highest point is on the southeast corner on the cone of Hohenasperg . In the northeast it borders on that of the Wohbach , which flows a little further down into the Enz, and in the southeast on that of the Gründelbach tributary to the Neckar . In the south and south-east, the Leudelsbach takes the runoff on the other side of the watershed and flows up the Saubach into the Enz.
