Saving Grace is a New Zealand Christian metal band from Gisborne City , currently consisting of four musicians Nicholas Tautuhi ( vocals ), Vasely Sapunov ( guitar ), George White ( bass ) and Ryan Wilson ( drums ).
The band is currently under contract with the labels Strike First Records , Facedown Records , Deadboy Records and Universal Music .
history
Saving Grace was founded in 2005. Initially, she played smaller concerts in garages for around 20 fans who were friends. In the same year the band recorded a demo and released it under their own name. A split CD with befriended band Upheld followed just a year later.
In 2008 the band made their first small breakthrough. The debut album Behind Enemy Lines was a worldwide success that received positive reviews from many critics. This was followed by a tour through New Zealand , Australia , the USA and Mexico with a total of 35 concerts.
Since the rise in popularity, Saving Grace played with bands such as Parkway Drive , Bring Me the Horizon , Bleeding Through , Comeback Kid , Darkest Hour and Misery Signals .
In 2010 the band signed a contract with Strike First Records, which in collaboration with Universal Music and Deadboy Records produced the second studio album Unbreakable and released it worldwide. The latest album, The Urgency , which was released in early 2014, debuted at number 22 in the New Zealand album charts.
style
The lyrics are about religion and the belief in God that the band tries to bring to the fans with their lyrics. Other topics of the band are social problems, personal experiences with God and friendship , but also betrayal , violence and self-harm.
The music style is mainly influenced by bands from the early hardcore scene, such as Arkangel , Reprisal and Earth Crisis , but you can also find elements of the extreme metal styles , especially Cannibal Corpse , Slayer , Sepultura and Morbid Angel .
Notoriety
So far the band has released two albums, an MCD, a split CD and an EP. The band toured with Parkway Drive , Bleeding Through , Comeback Kid , Darkest Hour , Misery Signals and Bring Me the Horizon . These included concerts in the USA , Mexico , Australia , New Zealand and Europe .
In April 2010 there was a mini-tour of four cities in New Zealand, one of which was only for visitors over the age of 18 .
