Schoenberg (Schauenstein)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Schönberg is a deserted area in the urban area of Schauenstein in the Upper Franconian district of Hof .

On the Schönberg mountain there are isolated references to a desert, which is simply referred to as the Schönberg desert. It is believed to be near the Schafhof or north of Neudorf and east of Uschertsgrün . In the west, separated by the course of the Aubächlein, joins the desert green desert . The tributary of the Aubächlein up to the source area also forms the northern border of the area. The stream found its way into the work of Johann Wills vom Teutschen Paradeiß from 1692 as the “Schönberger Bächlein”. In Schloss Seehof, as the seat of the central monument protection authority, fragments from 2007 are kept that are attributed to this desertification.

Schönberg was mentioned in a document as early as 1398 as a desert. This coincided with the time when the burgraves of Nuremberg were expanding their possessions to the north and got into a feud with the governors of Weida . As a result, several, mostly small settlements were devastated and then never repopulated. In the deed of ownership of von Wildenstein there is talk of a "Wüstung zum Schönberg", once as an addendum to the possessions from 1398 and once in 1416. In 1509, Margrave Friedrich acquired "Wüstung und Holz Schönberg" from the von Lüchau family .
