Schafhof is a district of the town of Schauenstein in the Upper Franconian district of Hof .

The Schafhof is located north of the Neudorf district on a hillside on Schönberg. It can be reached from Neudorf by turning off the state road St 2693 .

In addition to its eponymous function as a sheep farm , the sheep farm was laid out as an outbuilding for Schloss Schauenstein . The state road largely corresponds to the course of the old road , the junction to the Schafhof was called Eisensteinweg. In 1781 the widow Sophia Katharina von Wallenrode sold the Schafhof to Johann Elias Strobel.

The central buildings are the stable house and the adjoining servant house , the substance of which dates back to the 18th century. Both are under monument protection . Special features are the adjacent historic tunnel and beer cellar, the entrance of which is laid out in a hollow on the slope. The disappeared settlement of Schönberg was located near the mountain . To the west below the Schafhof is the agricultural property Neudorf 47, which was also called "Neuhaus". Before it was incorporated into Schauenstein, the sheep farm belonged to the Neudorf community in the Naila district .

In the north is the Eselsgütlein desert .
