Schaffhouse-sur-Zorn (German Schaffhausen an der Zorn ) is a commune déléguée in the French commune of Hochfelden with 407 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ).
Mainly arable farming is practiced in the street village . The appendix to the place name is named after the Zorn , which flows through the northern municipality. Until April 18, 1949, the village was called "Schaffhausen" .
Schaffhouse is three kilometers south of Hochfelden and 22 km (as the crow flies) northwest of Strasbourg . The Rhine-Marne Canal runs between Hochfelden and Schaffhouse . The two places are connected by Départementsstraße 25.
history
In 774 the place is mentioned for the first time under the name Scafhusa in a document from the Wissembourg monastery , which had possessions there. The name means sheep house , so today sheepfold.
The coat of arms shows a golden key crossed by a silver sword on a blue background. These are the attributes of the apostles Peter and Paul, which indicate that the parish belongs to the mother parish Peter and Paul in Hochfelden.
On January 1, 2015, the municipality moved from the Arrondissement Strasbourg-Campagne to the Arrondissement Saverne . The community was a member of the Communauté de communes du Pays de la Zorn . It was incorporated into Hochfelden on January 1, 2017 .
