action

Landscape Park Duisburg-Nord , crime scene in layers in the shaft

Schimanski is supposed to pick up Hänschen for a fishing vacation from a crime scene in the Duisburg-Nord Landscape Park , where Natalie was found dead by her neighbor, the pensioner Heinz Budarek. The act is similar to the murder of his daughter Tanja Budarek, which Schimanski was unable to solve six years ago. Both victims had their panties in their mouths. When Schimanski is called by Hunger and made aware of this detail, the ex- police officer feels responsible for it, leaves Hänschen fishing alone and pays a visit to one of the suspects at the time, Bennert, in Amsterdam . Meanwhile, Hunger arrests the drug addict Thomas Kosslick, who was observed by witnesses at the crime scene and, according to the files, had an argument with Natalie before her death.

When Schimanski inspects Natalie's body in the forensic medicine department , he is surprised by hunger and Kosslick is arrested, whereupon Schimanski tries to question him in the remand prison . However, Kosslick draws his attention to his old friend and fiancé of the dead, call center owner Martin Wetschek, as he also had a relationship with Budarek's daughter. Wetschek, who was raised like a son by Budarek, tells Schimanski that Natalie was pregnant . When Schimanski comes home, he finds out that Marie-Claire has converted his apartment for a spiritual therapy session and asks him to spend the night elsewhere. At Natalie's employer, a hairdresser , he learns that she wanted to open her own shop and had received a lot of money for it somewhere. During a further inspection of the crime scene, Schimanski finds a photo with flowers of a friend of Natalie's and has to stay overnight in Hänschen's office.

The next day Bennert arrives in Duisburg and meets Daniela Budarek with her daughter in front of Natalie's grave, but Daniela is not on good terms with him. Bennert then visits his old friend Wetschek and they speculate about the further action of the police. Hunger, who meets Schimanski in front of the Budarek house, accuses old Budarek of having something to do with Natalie's murder, as traces of paint were found on Natalie's clothes. As a precaution, Budarek is arrested because of hunger, whereupon he confesses for inexplicable reasons that he put the slip in the body's mouth. Kosslick, who has just been released, is picked up by Wetschek to meet Bennert on the Rhine and check his loyalty to one another. Budarek's daughter Daniela is amazed when she learns from Schimanski that her father is said to have had something to do with the murder. In the meantime, Schimanski has found Natalie's friend Laura and learns from her that Natalie was pregnant from her boss, had an abortion and could no longer become pregnant due to a subsequent infection. The abortion is confirmed by hunger and that the victim's shop has already been paid for with 18,000 euros . Wetschek suddenly appears at the Budarek's and there is an argument with old Budarek, who mourns his steel mill past and disapproves of Wetschek's call center as exploitation.

Schimanski confronts the hairdresser with his affair with Natalie, who admits to having forged the registration papers in return. During a visit from Schimanski to Kosslick, he can elicit that he had helped Natalie to earn some money with drug deals. Schimanski now realizes where she got the money from. After he has put Kosslick, Bennert and Wetschek to the test with his new findings, he is knocked down by two of them after a meeting with Laura. Bennert, who did not take part, desperately tries to get closer to Daniela to find out whether he is the father of her little daughter. Wetschek kills Bennert out of suspicion with the same object with which he had previously hit Schimanski and tries to take Kosslick off with an overdose of drugs. Schimanski finds Kosslick in time and learns from him in the hospital that all three to six years ago had raped Daniela. Wetschek is arrested on the basis of the burden of proof of hunger, but denies the murder of the women. Schimanski reveals to her that he knows her secret. But suddenly after Wetschek's arrest, Schimanski notices in a wedding photo that the wedding bouquet was missing from the corpse. Daniela admits to have killed Tanja because of the rape because she helped with it. Natalie had to die when she discovered that her child came from her fiancé Wetschek and that she wanted the child in return for the silence. Daniela had the slip in her mouth during the rape and wanted her victims to feel this disgrace as well. When the case is over, Schimanski devotes himself entirely to Hänschen's fishing excursion and they succeed in winning the competition with a magnificent specimen.

background

The dream sequence at the beginning is the final scene from the last Schimanski crime scene: The Schimanski case (1991), in which Schimanski soars over Duisburg with a kite.

Winning the fishing competition will only be shown in still pictures at the end.

Matthias Redlhammer played the role of the meticulous detective Krieger in the first Schimanski films between 1997 and 1999.
