action

It is Marie-Claire's birthday and Schimanski tries to sell his grandmother's silverware for a present in Antwerp . When a boy steals the heirlooms from him, he pursues him and saves the Jew David Rosenfeldt from a thief who is currently trying to take his briefcase by force. Rosenfeldt offers him a lot of money if he accompanies him to Duisburg . In the suitcase that he carries with him there is something important that belongs to an Ari Goldmann that he has to "kill". So Schimmi decides to accompany him in order to save him from difficulties. In Duisburg he hides it in his apartment and looks for a safe place for the suitcase. He opens it and finds a notebook that he takes. He hides the suitcase at the police station from Hunger and Hanschen. When asked who Goldmann was, he was only given the answer that he was looking for an Israeli agent . Schimmi goes to Goldmann's monitored apartment and is locked in the closet by Lea at gunpoint. Meanwhile, despite Schimanski's ban, Rosenfeldt opens the front door and is murdered because he falls for the wrong voice.

The synagogue in Duisburg visited by Schimanski

Schimanski discovers the dead Rosenfeldt and Hanschen appears at the door. Unfortunately, he has to arrest him and Schimanski is interrogated by König, an old friend from Hunger and an investigator for the state security. King would let him go if he gave him the notebook. When Hunger and Hänschen want to take him to the public prosecutor , Schimanski escapes. King then triggers a large manhunt . After making a short visit to his apartment, Schimmi turns to Mr. Fränckel from the Jewish community . On the subject of Goldmann, this gives him to understand that it is an unknown patron who u. a. Donates money for Jewish projects in Israel. Schimmi borrows Fränckel's Mercedes and sets off for Antwerp. There he accidentally follows Lea to the Rosenfeldt restaurant and tackles her on the roof. She claims Lea Kaminski to be an officer in the Belgian police and gives him a job in the restaurant. He also hands the book over to Rabbi Ginsburg, who explains to him that it is a book with encrypted account numbers. He shows him the grave of Goldmann, who was with him and Rosenfeldt in Mauthausen concentration camp . The accounts were created by Jews before World War II and later used by Rosenfeldt in Goldmann's name for the donations so that they would not be closed due to his death. A candy wrapper with two more numbers gives them another riddle.

When Schimanski and Lea party in the evening, Marie-Claire drives by, who has found out Schimmi's location from a telephone number. She jealously leaves the scene when Schimanski comes after and is dragged into a bus by strangers. He is tortured in a major slaughterhouse so that he can reveal his findings and the book.

Schimanski wakes up in the synagogue with Rabbi Ginsburg, who has deciphered the numbers on the candy wrapper. The first means golem and indicates the accounts that Rosenfeldt wanted to close so they don't fall into the wrong hands. A little later, the second number turns out to be the Hebrew word for king. Schimanski confronts hunger in Duisburg and suspects König of playing a wrong game. Marie-Claire has since been kidnapped by König. Based on a video, Schimanski is instructed to exchange the book for his girlfriend in the freight yard. While Schimmi is freeing Marie-Claire there and depositing the book, there is a clash between King's people and Leah. Gil, Lea's friend from the restaurant, turns out to be King's henchman but is knocked down by Marie-Claire. Lea can secure the book. But then Schimmi gets in the way of König and is injured by a gunshot wound. Hunger emerges and asks King to let Schimanski go and give up. King prefers to commit suicide.

In the hospital , Schimanski gives his partner a ring for her birthday and first learns from Lea that the book was worthless for a long time because the accounts had expired at the beginning of the year. She would like to keep the book as a memory of her father Ari Goldmann.
