occupation

Loverboy is a television film from the Schimanski crime series on ARD . The film was produced by Colonia Media and first aired on November 10, 2013. It is the 17th and last episode in the Schimanski series with Götz George . The premiere was already on October 3, 2013 as part of the Cologne International Film & Television Festival .

action

The imprisoned criminal Kaijewski asks Schimanski for his help because his daughter Jessica has disappeared. Schimanski finally starts the investigation. Jessica fell into the clutches of a so-called lover boy , which he was initially unaware of. Nils, the loverboy, who initially gives her presents and pretends to be emotions, turns out to be a violent pimp who isolates, abuses and finally forces Jessica into prostitution . The body found at the beginning is Daan, an accomplice of Nils, who also used the loverboy method to force young girls into prostitution. The tracks lead to Rotterdam. Susanne Mellert, who accompanied Schimanski to Rotterdam and whose daughter Lisa was also forced into prostitution by Daan, finally confesses to Schimanski that she shot Daan. Schimanski makes the murder weapon disappear, which is why the perpetrator cannot be convicted. Nils is finally arrested in Rotterdam. Jessica returns to her mother, but Lisa can no longer break away from the milieu.

background

The shooting took place from May 27, 2013 to June 28, 2013 in Rotterdam, Cologne and Duisburg.

The term “ loverboy ” describes a method of recruitment for forced prostitution, which is reported mainly in the tabloid media. The relevance and truthfulness of this reporting are, however, doubted by serious media.

He actually wears the Order of the Dutch Lion , which Chiem van Houweninge (as Hänschen) is awarded in the film, in real life. This was given to him personally by Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands . During the filming, however, the queen was no longer in office, which is why "Ritter Hänschen" was supposedly appointed by her successor, King Willem-Alexander .

reception

Reviews

"Nevertheless, that is the sad premonition that resonates in the end, this 'Schimanski' episode, which was wrested from television reality with much pain, could well be the last."

“[...] these are the moments for which this Schimanski episode is also worth watching. Just as in the opening scene of the film, you can see from them: Schimanski can no longer do everything, and he doesn't even try. But he still does what he can: he provokes, argues, harasses and comforts. And he does it really well. "

"The story is told down in a more conventional way by the experienced director Kaspar Heidelbach, the motif of the wide-eyed and kidnapped child woman seems very overused in the German crime film - although the variation of the theme is unusual this time. And you would probably find Schimanski's eternal battle with the smartphone silly if you didn't always think about those great moments that you experienced with him, back in the eighties. With him, and with Thanner and Königsberg and Hänschen. "

Audience ratings

The first broadcast of Loverboy on November 10, 2013 was seen by 8.21 million viewers in Germany and achieved a market share of 22.1% for Das Erste .
