The Schleicher K 10 was a glider and a development study in wood construction with fabric covering. The Schleicher K 6 E later emerged from it, in which, among other things, the pendulum horizontal stabilizer of the Ka 6 CR-Pe was adopted. In addition, to improve the high-speed flight characteristics, the NACA-63 profile was replaced by a Wortmann profile , which merges from an FX 40 at the root to an FX 30.

In order to achieve the most precise profile possible and thus a longer laminar air flow, the leading edge cladding reached up to 65% of the wing depth and was made of 2.5 mm thick plywood. The prototype of the K 10 (D-3619) was flown for the first time in 1963 (test certificate from July 30, 1963). The tests showed that the use of Wortmann profiles and the weight increase of 25 kg at high speeds caused by structural reinforcements brought a great increase in performance, but the flight characteristics at medium speeds, which made the Ka 6 so attractive, were poor. Therefore, after only twelve copies built between 1963 and 1964, the production of the K 10 was stopped and Kaiser designed the K 6 E as a new version of the Ka 6, a synthesis of the harmonious flight characteristics of the Ka 6 CR and the better performance the K should be 10.
