The ASH 25 is a high performance two-seater glider of the open class with originally 25 m wingspan .

Its designer Martin Heide , from whom the 'H' in the type designation comes, designed it using the existing surface of the single-seater ASW 22 . The fuselage was designed based on the fuselage of the fs 31 of Akaflieg Stuttgart. This is characterized above all by its resistance-optimized shape. This pre-production aircraft was also called AS 22-2 - as the two-seater ASW 22 - before the final name was determined.

Manufacturer is the company Alexander Schleicher Segelflugzeugbau from Poppenhausen (Wasserkuppe) . The ASH 25 was built as a pure glider and motorized in the variants E (homecoming aid, first flight May 1987, 63 pieces, built 1987–1994), M and Mi. The designations M (first flight May 18, 1994) and Mi (first flight May 1999 ) are different engine variants that enable self-starting. A total of 269 aircraft were built.

Binder Flugmotorenbau GmbH also offers an optimized version called ASH25 EB28 (14 aircraft). The span of the ASH25 EB28 has been increased to 28 meters by a newly developed outer wing, which enables the best glide of approx. 60+.

The production of the ASH 25 and ASH 25 Mi was set in September 2008 to capacities for the successor ASH 30 Mi vacate.
