Jičíněves Castle

The Jičíněves Castle (German: Jičínowes ) in the Jičíněves municipality of the same name belongs to the Okres Jičín .

In the vicinity of a fort that was built in the 16th century by Johann d. J. von Waldstein had been built, Franz Josef von Schlick built a three-story baroque castle with a mansard roof , which is adorned by a small tower, from 1715-1717 . The plans came from Jean Baptiste Mathey , who was no longer alive at the time of construction.

In 1730 the St. Anthony of Padua and the Holy Cross built the castle chapel, which was expanded in the years 1827-1830 and 1911.

The castle is surrounded by an English park that was laid out in the 19th century. There is an Empire- style pavilion in the park .

The palace served as the residence of the Schlick family and also housed the manorial administration. After the communist takeover of Czechoslovakia in 1948, the Schlick family was expropriated. The castle subsequently served as accommodation for various educational institutions. After the political change , the castle was restituted to the Schlick family in 1992.
