The Schlossbach is a 1.5 km long stream in the area of the small town of Gaildorf in the district of Schwäbisch Hall in north-eastern Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the middle Kocher near the hamlet of Kleinaltdorf from the west-south-west direction and from the left .

Surname

The Kocher has another tributary called the Schlossbach , also called the Steinbach , which flows into its upper reaches from the left via the Mühlkanal of the Scherrenmühle in the city of Aalen .

geography

course

The castle stream arises in a flat meadow basin about 1.4 km west of the center of the Gaildorf hamlet Kleinaltdorf , which is surrounded in the west by an amphitheater of wooded mountain slopes in the north-western part of the Kirgelsattel ; in the south-east is the summit of the Druckeles ( 461.6  m above sea level ), from which the narrow ridge of the Lehberg stretches in an arc to the west-northwest to the saddle in front of the summit of the Ebersberg ( 485  m above sea level ), on which a north-east spur stretches starts, which complements the arch to a semicircle. The first part of the trench of the course is about 368  m above sea level. NN in the area of a small deciduous forest ledge, which it traverses east-northeast, and then after less than 200 meters feeds an approximately 0.2 ha large reservoir. From this it flows to the east-northeast through a straight and almost woodless ditch next to land lines and unpaved roads; it maintains this direction up to its mouth.

About a kilometer after an origin, it touches a small deciduous forest grove between mostly somewhat distant agricultural buildings, where it is reached from the left and northwest by its only significant tributary, the approximately 0.4 km long Appenbrunnenbach , which rises from the eponymous source on the flat left slope, two smaller ponds drained and finally flows verdolt. Then the castle stream begins to deepen and, after passing a barn, crosses under the embankment of the Waiblingen – Schwäbisch Hall-Hessental railway line . On the other side it passes in a small trough valley with partly loose trees, which are denser on the bank, on the northern edge of the closed development of Kleinaltdorf and then soon passes under the B 19 piped under . About fifty meters above the road bridge to the hamlet of Großaltdorf on the right of the river, it then flows at about 318  m above sea level. NN from the left and in an east-north-easterly direction into the middle Kocher , which has just made its east loop around the estuary village Kleinaltdorf on its northern course on a larger scale.

Catchment area

The Schlossbach has a catchment area of around 1.2 km². With the Kirgelkamm between Druckele and Ebersberg, it has a distinctive watershed in the southwest against the upper reaches of the Erlenbach from the Michelbach to the Fichtenberger Rot . The northwestern one, which separates Vogelherd from the drainage area of the inconsistent Steinlesbach , which runs to the downstream Kocher, on the northeast spur of the Ebersberg and the continuing hill , is clearly recognizable. To the east, the Kocher itself is the closest body of water. In the southeast, beyond the Druckeles, a short and less important competitor moves through the Gaildorf settlement area, partly piped to the upstream cooker. The 485  m above sea level NN highest point in the catchment area is on the summit of the Ebersberg .

This is located in the natural area of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains and in the area of the mountain climb in the west is part of the lower area of the Hinterer Mainhardt Forest , while the predominant central and eastern part with the valley corridors is already in the adjacent sub-area of the Gaildorf Basin around the Kocherlauf. The stream begins its way in the Gipskeuper ( Grabfeld formation ), then runs through the Lower Keuper and finally flows into the Upper Muschelkalk . Almost the entire open land portion belongs to the landscape protection area "Ostabfall des Mainhardter Wald with parts of the Kocher valley and side valleys between Gaildorf and Westheim". There is a damp alder forest around the top run in front of the fish pond. Its lower course on the northern edge of Kleinaltdorf is accompanied by a strip of alluvial forest in the small valley basin.

The catchment area lies entirely on the Gaildorfer city boundary , the majority of it on Eutendorfer , a smaller one in the northwest on Ottendorfer suburbs. The only settlement area in the catchment area is Kleinaltdorf, of which the greater part is outside.
