Schneeweißchen und Rosenrot is a German fairy tale adaptation from 1955. It is based on the Grimm fairy tale Schneeweißchen und Rosenrot .
action
The gold-greedy dwarfs live in the fairytale forest. One of them wants to steal the gold treasure from the king's castle, but is caught and flees. Prince Goldhaar and his brother, Prince Delphinium, take up the chase, during which the dwarf turns Prince Goldhaar into a bear. In search of Prince Goldhaar, Prince Larkspur and his Knickebein meet Snow White and her sister Rosenrot while they are collecting mushrooms. On their way home, the sisters meet the evil dwarf who has got his beard caught in a tree trunk, but shows himself ungrateful for the help of the two sisters. At home, the sisters tell their mother about their experiences.
In winter the bear knocks on the door. He is taken in by Schneeweißchen and Rosenrot and their mother and helps with the housework. In the summer he is almost killed by the hunting prince delphinium on an excursion; Snow-white and rose-red, however, can convince the prince of the bear's tame. Longing for his brother, the bear flees into the forest. In their search for him, Snow White and Rose Red meet the dwarf again, whose beard this time got caught in a cart. Again he shows himself ungrateful for the help of the sisters. On their way home they meet the dwarf one more time, who this time is in danger of being dragged into the raging brook by his prey while fishing. Reluctantly, Snow White and Rose Red help this time too. When the dwarf roars again, the bear appears; the dwarf recognizes Prince Golden Hair in him. When the dwarf falls into the depths on his escape, the bear turns back into the prince. Even the stolen treasure is back.
Prince Goldhaar marries Snow White; Prince Larkspur marries Rosenrot; the mother of the sisters is also allowed to live in the castle.
production
The film was produced in the Schongerfilm studio in Inning am Ammersee . Neuschwanstein Castle and its surroundings served as the film set . The world premiere took place on September 18, 1955 in Marburg.
criticism
“A somewhat innovative attempt to free the German fairy tale film of the 50s with outdoor shots (from the Bavarian mountain forest) at least from its studio rigidity. A simple film adaptation that corresponds to a child's perception. "
