Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs is a German fairy tale film from 1955. It is based on Grimm's fairy tale Snow White .

action

The king and his wife, the good and loving queen, live in a fairytale kingdom. As a seal of love, both of them long for a child. Eventually, a girl is born who is baptized Snow White. Snow White is very beautiful: her skin is “white as snow, her lips red as blood and her hair black as ebony.” The kind-hearted queen dies soon after the baby girl is born. After a few years, the king remarries. The new queen is a very beautiful woman, but proud and haughty and believing that no one can ever surpass her in beauty.

Snow White grows up to be an extraordinarily beautiful young woman. The wicked and vain queen is in possession of a magic mirror, which she always secretly asks: “Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the most beautiful in the whole land?” Since Snow White's beauty stands in the way of the queen's vanity, she lets the girl in lock a tower. However, the young Prince Noble, who comes by to see Snow White, manages to catch a glimpse of the beautiful girl. He falls in love with her and asks the hunter to give Snow White a necklace from him. He also instructs the hunter to let him know immediately if Snow White is in danger.

When the queen, when questioning her magic mirror again, learns that Snow White is a thousand times more beautiful than herself, she orders the hunter to kill Snow White. The hunter, a good-natured person at heart, does not have the heart to do this. He leaves the young princess alone in the forest. Snow White finds help and shelter with the seven dwarfs. The young woman lovingly runs the household for the dwarfs, who in turn adore Snow White. When the queen questions her mirror late in the evening, she learns that Snow White now lives “behind the seven mountains, with the seven dwarfs”. She has the hunter who disobeyed her order thrown into the dungeon. Then she dresses up and sets out to kill Snow White herself. As a shopkeeper she appears at Snow White and shows her different bodices, the girl should try on her most beautiful one right away. She then ties the bodice so tight that Snow White falls unconscious and the queen says that now she is the most beautiful in the whole country again. The dwarfs coming home open the bodice and Snow White gets air again, which is cause for great joy.

When questioning her mirror again, the queen learns that her plan has failed and comes up with an even more vicious one than the first. This time she brings combs that Snow White is supposed to choose one of. She presses the poisoned comb into Snow White's hair and scornfully says: “You paragon of beauty, now it's all over to you.” When the dwarfs come home later and pull out the comb, Snow White comes to.

The evil queen, who found out through her magic mirror, that Snow White is still alive, this time wants to be absolutely sure and flips through her magic books every night. Then she brews a poison and soaks half of an apple with it. A servant who heard the queen's shameful plan frees the hunter so he can notify the prince. The queen has disguised herself as an old mother and wants to make Snow White believe that she is bringing the apples the dwarfs have ordered. When Snow White does not want to accept the apple she has been offered to try, she cuts it in half and gives Snow White the red half and bites the white one herself. Snow White gets a crack in her throat and she falls over like dead. "Now even your dwarfs can no longer help you," the evil queen proclaims triumphantly.

When a bad thunderstorm falls and the dwarfs rush to Snow White because they are worried, they find the evil queen on their way home, who is struck by lightning and lying dead in the rain on the earth. You can't help Snow White this time, her heart has stopped beating. They bed the girl in a glass coffin, which they lovingly decorate.

In the meantime the hunter has been able to notify the king's son and both appear at the seven dwarfs. There the prince learns the sad news of Snow White's death. He asks to be allowed to take Snow White in the coffin to his castle. When one of the dwarfs stumbles, the princess comes to life again, which makes not only the dwarfs but also Prince Edelmut very happy. Snow White happily agrees to the prince's proposal and it is decided to celebrate the wedding with the dwarfs in the forest.
