The Swiss management organization SKO (French: Association suisse des cadres ASC ; Italian: Associazione svizzera dei quadri ASQ ; until 1988 Swiss Werkmeisterverband SWV ) is an association with around 12,000 members that supports the economic, political and social interests of executives and junior executives and represents experts from all sectors in Switzerland . Its purpose is to support the skills development and employability of its members and to promote suitable framework conditions for sustainable management work. The organization itself is politically independent. The SKO offers members legal, financial and insurance services as well as cadre-specific further training and career services. In addition, SKO members have access to a national and regional network of contacts and relationships.

history

The organization was founded in 1893 as the "Schweizerischer Werkmeister-Verband" (SWV). In contrast to other organizations of employees who concentrated on their common educational interests, the focus was on the common status - the socially precarious position of this group, which originated from the working class but was rising to the position of superiors. In the early 20th century, the SWV expanded its activities in a socio-political direction, like other similar Swiss associations. In 1918 the SWV was a founding member of the Association of Swiss Employees' Associations . The renaming from SWV to SKO took place in 1988. In December 2010, the Swiss management organization had 12,220 members who are networked in 23 regional groups and three national professional groups. Since 2009, SKO has been a full member of the CEC European Managers , the umbrella organization of all European management associations, based in Brussels .
