The Schwenninger Betriebskrankenkasse ( Die Schwenninger and Die Schwenninger Krankenkasse for short ) is a German health insurance company based in Villingen-Schwenningen . As the statutory health insurance provider , it is a public corporation . The nationwide open health insurance company has around 800 employees and looks after around 320,000 customers.
history
On June 17, 1896, the company health insurance fund of the Kienzle watch factory was founded. In 1996 the Schwenninger BKK emerged. On January 1, 1997, the health insurance merged with BKK J. Schlenker-Grusen ( ISGUS ), on January 1, 2009 with BKK BVM and on January 1, 2010 with BKK Ost-Hessen. Since March 1, 2011, the Schwenninger company health insurance company has been a brand under its short name Die Schwenninger Krankenkasse .
Finances and structure
In 2018, Schwenninger Krankenkasse took in around 944.7 million euros and spent 936 million euros. At 274.3 million euros, most of the service expenditure was spent on hospital treatment. Medical treatments took up around 164.8 million euros. The third largest block was pharmaceutical spending with 148.7 million euros.
The company health insurance fund charges its policyholders an additional contribution : since April 1, 2017, at 1.3 percent.
In addition to the head office, there are branches in Ansbach , Arnstadt , Berlin , Emden , Fulda , Hamburg , Karlsruhe , Koblenz , Mainz , Munich , Münster , Villingen-Schwenningen and Wächtersbach .
Health care
In addition to the mandatory benefits according to SGB V , Schwenninger Krankenkasse offers additional benefits in the field of health care (prevention). Every insured person with Schwenninger Krankenkasse has up to 250 euros a year for courses in the areas of exercise, nutrition, stress reduction and smoking cessation. Contributions of up to 150 euros per year are also possible via a bonus program. The health insurance company also pays for many travel vaccinations.
Health for breakfast
The Schwenninger Krankenkasse in Berlin regularly invites you to the health event for breakfast. Two experts each discuss current challenges and questions in health policy. It is moderated by journalists and offers the opportunity to exchange views and experiences directly.
The Health Workers Foundation - Responsibility for the future of health
In July 2012, Schwenninger Krankenkasse was the first statutory health insurance company to set up a foundation. It bears the name Die Gesundarbeiter - Responsibility for the future of health and promotes projects in the field of prevention and health care, with a focus on children and young people.
GWQ ServicePlus AG
At the end of 2007, Schwenninger Krankenkasse founded the service company GWQ ServicePlus AG in Berlin together with thirteen other company health insurance funds. The tasks of the service company include negotiating and concluding medical supply and discount contracts (e.g. for pharmaceuticals) and the central purchasing of aids. The aim is to increase the quality, efficiency and profitability of the participating statutory health insurance companies.

The customer magazine covers the topics of health, nutrition, exercise, relaxation, lifestyle and wellness and has a circulation of around 190,000.
