Scilla morrisii is a species of squill ( Scilla ) in the asparagus family (Asparagaceae).

Scilla morrisii is a perennial herbaceous plant . This geophyte forms an onion as a persistent organ. The three to six thick, straight leaves are up to 70 centimeters long and 0.5 to 1.5 centimeters wide.

The inflorescence shaft carries an inflorescence from one to four flowers . The flowers are star-shaped, small and purple to blue with a milky white.

The flowering period extends from March to April.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 12.

Occurrence

Scilla morrisii is endemic to the northwest of Cyprus . This species grows at altitudes of 250 to 900 meters in damp, shady crevices and on banks. It is often found in closed old stands of oaks such as Quercus infectoria subsp. veneris as well as shrubs such as the turpentine pistachio .

Danger

The IUCN classifies the species as critically endangered because the range is highly fragmented and very small, continues to shrink and there are only fewer than 600 individuals.
