Scott Fraser (born May 3, 1972 in Moncton , New Brunswick ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who has played in the National Hockey League for the Montréal Canadiens , Edmonton Oilers and New York Rangers, among others .
Career
Scott Fraser played in his youth for Dartmouth College in the National Collegiate Athletic Association belonging to university - and college sports league ECAC Hockey . In the 1991 NHL Entry Draft , the attacker was selected in the ninth round at a total of 193rd position by the Montréal Canadiens , but he stayed with Dartmouth for three more years. In 1993 the Canadian was appointed to the ECAC Second All-Star Team.
In the 1994/95 season Fraser played 65 games for the farm team of the Canadiens, the Fredericton Canadiens , in the American Hockey League . He scored 23 goals and reached a total of 48 points. In the following season he was able to increase his points quota again, so he reached 74 points in 58 games. In the same year he also completed his first games in the National Hockey League for Montréal. The 1996/97 AHL season he started again in Fredericton, but was transferred from the Canadiens to the Calgary Flames early in the season . The attacker did not play a game for the Flames, but spent most of the season with Calgary's farm team, the Saint John Flames .
Before the start of the 1997/98 NHL season , Scott Fraser signed a contract with the Edmonton Oilers , but he spent most of the season with their farm team, the Hamilton Bulldogs . In Hamilton Fraser scored 61 points in 50 games and was consequently appointed to the NHL squad of the Oilers, where he was able to build on this quota and was able to achieve 23 points in 29 NHL games. As a result, he was named the best new professional in the NHL in March and April this year . In the playoffs, the striker contributed one goal and one assist in eleven games.
The following year Scott Fraser signed a new contract with the New York Rangers . With the Rangers he was able to prevail for the first time at the beginning of a season in the NHL squad, but he was sent to the farm team of the Rangers after 28 games in which he scored two goals and four assists. For the Hartford Wolf Pack , Fraser completed 36 games before retiring after the season.
