Scott Scissons (born October 29, 1971 in Saskatoon , Saskatchewan ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player who was active during his playing career for the New York Islanders in the National Hockey League .
Career
Scott Scissons played for Saskatoon Flyers and Saskatoon Contacts during his junior years . From 1988 he went for the Saskatoon Blades in the Western Hockey League on the ice and took part with the Blades in the Memorial Cup the following year . The team lost the final game against the Swift Current Broncos . The attacker was selected by the New York Islanders in the first round of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft in sixth position - and thus ahead of later top players such as Darryl Sydor , Keith Tkachuk , Martin Brodeur and Doug Weight - but never met expectations and proved turned out to be a mistake. After playing for another year with the Saskatoon Blades and appearing there as a regular scorer, he made his debut for the Islanders in the National Hockey League during the 1990/91 season .
The following season the offensive player spent with Team Canada and prepared with the team for the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , but did not make the final jump into the squad. Then Scissons was the 1992/93 season with the Capital District Islanders , the then farm team of the New York Islanders, in the American Hockey League in use. The Canadian spent the following year with the Salt Lake Golden Eagles in the International Hockey League and also had an assignment for the New York Islanders in the NHL. This was also his third and last use in the NHL, the 1994/95 season Scissons graduated with the Denver Grizzlies and Minnesota Moose in the IHL. He then ended his active career.
