The German Alpine Association Section Nuremberg e. V. ( DAV Nuremberg for short ) is one of the largest sports clubs in Germany with over 12,080 members (as of December 31, 2019) and is in 17th place among the largest sections of the German Alpine Club . In Nuremberg the section is the third largest sports club after 1. FC Nürnberg with over 24,100 members and Post SV Nürnberg with over 19,000 members.
history
The Nuremberg Section, founded on December 14, 1869, describes itself as the “co-founding section” of the DAV . The local group in Roth, founded in 1952, split off in 1994 as an independent Roth section .

- Fritz Hintermayer (1896–1964) manufacturer, namesake of the Fritz-Hintermayr-Hütte:
- Fritz Bechtold (1901–1961) was a German mountaineer .
- Oskar Bühler (1911–2001), mountaineer , climber, climbing guide author and inventor of the Bühler hook . Not only is he the namesake of one of the huts in the section ( Ossi-Bühler Hut ), he is also one of the prominent mountaineers that the section had.
