Selene ( Ukrainian Зелене ; Russian Зелёное Seljonoje , in German "Green") is a village in the east of the Kirovohrad Oblast in central Ukraine with about 540 inhabitants (April 1, 2013).
Selene is the administrative seat of the Selene District Council, which also includes the village of Artemiwka (Ukrainian Артемівка ) ⊙ .
history
The village, founded in 1672, belonged from 1754 to 1759 and from 1761 to 1764 to the territory of the Novoslobidskyj Cossack Regiment, an administrative-territorial and military unit in Ukraine.
geography
Selene is located on the Selena , a tributary of the Inhulez in the east of the Petrowe district and borders in the west on the municipalities of Shovte and Bohdano-Nadezhdivka in the Pyatychatky district ( Dnipropetrovsk Oblast ) and in the south on the municipalities of Kosazke and Jossypiwka . The district center of Petrowe is 19 km southwest and the Oblast center Kropyvnytskyi is 113 km west of Selene. The closest town is Schowti Wody 15 km southeast of the village.
