The Selinog Island Protected Landscape / Seascape is located in the province of Zamboanga del Norte , in the Mindanao Sea , in the Philippines . It was established on and around Selinog Island by Presidential Decree No. 276 on April 23, 2000. It belongs to the administrative area of the city of Dapitan City . The Selinog Island Protected Landscape / Seascape is a combined nature reserve and marine reserve . It covers an area of 960.26 hectares and a circumferential buffer zone with 1,294.35 hectares . The island can be reached via ferry connections via Dipolog City and Dapitan City.
The Selinog Island Protected Landscape / Seascape was set up to support the Selinog Island Dapitan Women's Association (SIDWA), which is committed to securing the livelihoods of the local population. In addition, it is hoped that there will be an additional source of income through gentle ecotourism.
