Senida Mesi

Senida Mesi (born December 16, 1977 in Shkodra ) is an Albanian politician and economist .

Career

Mesi studied economics until 2000 at the University of Tirana . She then worked in banking and completed a post-graduate degree at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management in 2009 . In parallel to further international training courses, she is an external lecturer in the economics faculty of Shkodra University .

In 2015 Mesi was elected to the city council of her hometown Shkodra, two years later she stood for the Partia Socialiste e Shqipërisë in the parliamentary elections in Albania in 2017 . After the successful election, she was appointed by Prime Minister Edi Rama as his deputy in the cabinet . After a phase of prolonged student protests, the cabinet was reshuffled at the end of 2018, as a result of which Erion Braçe succeeded Mesi as Deputy Prime Minister in January 2019. She retained her mandate for the Albanian Parliament .
