Sepp Tezak
Josef "Sepp" Tezak , (born June 20, 1923 in Kapfenberg ; † December 12, 2013 ) was an Austrian detective as well as railway historian , photographer and painter.
Life
Tezak attended school in Graz and learned to be a machine fitter at the Andritz machine factory . After being called up on October 1, 1942, he served in the German Navy in an outpost flotilla as a machine maat and returned to Graz in 1945 after being wounded and taken prisoner . From February 15, 1946 to August 1, 1985 he worked in the police service at the Graz Federal Police Directorate, most recently as a detective in charge. In addition to his family - he was married from 1947 with his wife Helga and father of two sons ( Helmut Tezak and Edgar Tezak ) - and his profession had Tezak more than half a century of railroad dedicated.
Services
In more than a dozen books , hundreds of articles in specialist magazines, 10,000 photos, slides and film recordings, Tezak has documented the history of the railroad on the southern line from Vienna to Trieste , especially in his home state of Styria .
To illustrate historical reports for which no picture material could be found, he painted more than 100 pictures, which were shown in exhibitions in Graz and Cilli , among others . Permanent loans are in the Technical Railway Museum ( TEML ) in Lieboch , in Spielfeld and Stainz and in the Railway Museum in Ljubljana .
For this comprehensive life's work as a railway historian, railway journalist and photographer, he was awarded the professional title of Professor on September 21, 2006 . Tezak is thus the first “railroad professor” in Styria, whose paths he documented for half a century.
