Sex & Lies in Sin City is an American television film first broadcast in 2008 by director Peter Medak . It is based on the book Murder in Sin City by Jeff German , which covers the events surrounding the death of the casino owner Ted Binion .

The film was produced for the American broadcaster Lifetime Movie Network . The leading roles were played by Matthew Modine , Mena Suvari , Marcia Gay Harden and Johnathon Schaech .

Ted Binion, owner of the Binion Horseshoe , meets the stripper Sandy. After the drug addict Ted eventually dies of an overdose , his girlfriend Sandy and her lover Rick are accused of murdering Ted during the course of the film. Since they apparently want to get rich on the deceased's $ 7 million in silver bars, they are convicted of murder and theft. After four years, the trial was revised and it turned out that the alleged witnesses had been bribed.
