Deshane Davis Larkin (born October 2, 1992 in Cincinnati ) is an American - Turkish basketball player .

career

His father Barry was a professional baseball player who played for the Cincinnati Reds . Born in Cincinnati , Larkin played basketball at the Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando , Florida . In 2010 he accepted the DePaul University  , but withdrew it in 2011 and went to the University of Miami . The 1.80 meter tall construction player was part of the university team from 2011 to 2013. He was on the field in a total of 68 games and averaged 11.2 points per match 11.2 points, he also prepared 3.6 basket successes of his companions and secured 3.2 rebounds. In 2013 he was named Player of the Year in the first NCAA division. At the end of April 2013, he announced the premature end of his university career and switched to professional life.

In the 2013 NBA draft process , the Atlanta Hawks decided in 18th place for Larkin, but passed him on to the Dallas Mavericks . Larkin played 48 games for the Texans in 2013/14, but remained a supplementary player (10.2 minutes of playing time and 2.8 points per encounter). At the New York Knicks , for which he played in the 2014/15 season, and at the Brooklyn Nets  in the 2015/16 season, the starting player was granted an average of more than 20 minutes each.

In August 2016, he accepted an offer from the Spanish club Saski Baskonia . In the ACB league  , Larkin got 14.1 points per game and 4.9 assists per game. In the Euroleague he scored 13.1 points per game for Saski Baskonia in 2016/17.

In 2017/18 he played for the Boston Celtics in the NBA, but did not get beyond the role of the supplementary player. For the 2018/19 season Larkin moved to the Turkish first division club Anadolu Efes in Istanbul . His first year in Istanbul was successful, as he won the Turkish championship with Anadolu Efes and moved into the Euroleague final. In the final Larkin towered with 29 points, but lost with his team against CSKA Moscow . In the main round of the Turkish league, Larkin scored 14 points per game during the 2018/19 season, and in the subsequent final round he increased to 16.7 per game on the way to the championship title. He was named the best European player of 2019 by the specialist portal eurobasket.com .

Until the Euroleague season 2019/20 was canceled due to the spread of Covid-19 , Larkin showed outstanding performance in the competition and scored 22.2 points per use, which meant the Euroleague high for this game year. In November 2019 he set a new Euroleague record with 49 points in the game against FC Bayern Munich . Until then, the maximum value in a game of the competition was 41 points. In December 2019, Larkin was promised by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan that he would become a member of the country's national team should he decide to take on Turkish citizenship. In February 2020, he received Turkish citizenship and thus became dual citizens, as he retained US citizenship. In the same month he was appointed to the Turkish national team. The website eurobasket.com named him the best player of the 2019/20 Euroleague season.
