history

The Palazzetto Lido Sport opened in 1961. Up until the move to the Mediolanum Forum , which opened in 1990 , the Olimpia Milano basketball club played its home games at the PalaLido. In 2010 the PalaLido was closed. The design for the renovation comes from the architects Teco + Partners from Bologna . In 2011, renovation work began on the then 50-year-old building and should be completed in 2013. The work was delayed by several interruptions for years. In February 2018, the insurance group Allianz gave the hall its name . The building was named Allianz Cloud . The contract has a term of five years. Allianz pays 368,000 euros a year for this. This makes a total of 1,840,000 euros over the contract period. At that time, it was assumed that the store would open in May of that year.

The converted Allianz Cloud was reopened on June 21, 2019, eight years after the renovation began. The hall is adorned with a façade made of curved corrugated iron that extends into the roof . The former barrel roof has been replaced by a flatter version with a steel grid construction and an integrated photovoltaic system. The interior was equipped with plastic seats in different shades of blue. An octagonal video cube (each of the four sides 6 × 3.5 meters and four vertical displays in the corners with a height of 1.5 meters) was installed under the roof . The facade can be illuminated in different colors with an LED lighting system. The Allianz Cloud currently offers 5347 places. The first big event was the games of the preliminary round group 14 of the Men's Volleyball Nations League 2019 with hosts Italy , Poland , Serbia and Argentina .

On November 16, 2019, the match for the women's Italian volleyball supercup took place in PalaLido. the champions of Imoco Volley Conegliano defeated the cup winners of AGIL Volley Novara with 3: 0 (25:20, 25:17, 25:21) in front of about 5000 spectators . Today Olimpia Milano uses the hall for individual matches in the League and EuroLeague .

The sports arena is as a second venue, next to the PalaItalia Santa Giulia , for the games in hockey the Winter Olympics in 2026 provided. The games in para-ice hockey of the Winter Paralympics 2026 are also to be played in the PalaLido.
