The Shawnee Township is one of 10 townships in Cape Girardeau County in the southeast of the US -amerikanischen state of Missouri .

Shawnee Township is on the west bank of the Mississippi , which forms the border with Illinois . The mouth of the Ohio near Cairo at the intersection of the states of Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky is about 90 km southeast.
The Shawnee Township lies at 37 ° 30'54 "north latitude and 89 ° 36'51" west longitude and extends over 239.21 km², which is spread over 234.05 km² of land and 5.16 km² of water.
In the southeast of the Shawnee Township is the Trail of Tears State Park , the southern half of which is already in the Randol Township .
The Shawnee Township borders within Cape Girardeau County in the south on the Randol Township, in the southwest on the Byrd Township and in the west on the Apple Creek Township . To the north, the township borders Perry County ; in the east the Mississippi forms the border with Union County in Illinois.

Interstate 55 runs through the southwest of the township and is the shortest route from St. Louis to Memphis . US Highway 61 runs parallel to it , from which Missouri State Route 177 branches off in an easterly direction.
A BNSF Railway runs through Shawnee Township and runs along the entire length of the Mississippi River.
The nearest airport is Cape Girardeau Regional Airport, around 35 km south of the township .
