The children Township is one of 10 townships in Cape Girardeau County in the southeast of the US -amerikanischen state of Missouri .

geography

The children's township is around 30 km west of the Mississippi , which forms the border with Illinois . The mouth of the Ohio near Cairo at the intersection of the states of Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky is about 90 km southeast.

The children's township lies at 37 ° 21'23 "north latitude and 89 ° 48'50" west longitude and extends over 83.23 km², which is spread over 83.14 km² of land and 0.09 km² of water.

The children's township is traversed in a north-south direction by the Whitewater River, which flows into the Headwater Diversion Channel at Whitewater in the southeastern neighboring Hubble Township .

The Children's Township borders within Cape Girardeau County in the north on Whitewater Township , in the east on Byrd Township , in the southeast on Hubble Township and in the south on Liberty Township . To the west, the township borders on Bollinger County .

traffic

Missouri State Route 34 runs through the township in a west-east direction . There are also a number of other subordinate roads, some of which are unpaved.

The nearest airport is Cape Girardeau Regional Airport, around 35 km southeast of the township .

At the 2010 census , the township had 1,158 inhabitants. The population of the township lives next to buildings scattered across the township in the unincorporated settlement of Burfordville .

In Burfordville, on the bridge over the Whitewater River, the Bollinger Mill is located , which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and as a state park .
