Shenhe ( Chinese 沈 河 区 , Pinyin Shěnhé Qū ) is a municipality in the center of the sub-provincial city of Shenyang in the north of the Chinese province of Liaoning . It manages an area of 58 square kilometers and had a registered population of around 730,000 in 2017 . The 2000 population census showed a total population of 601,444 people in 194,003 households, including 300,835 men and 300,609 women. Of the 23 nationalities that settle in Shenhe, the Han , Manchu , Hui and Koreans are the most important.
The district's gross domestic product was 99.6 billion yuan in 2018 , of which 85.7 billion was in the service sector. The median income per capita for the population was 49,720 yuan. With the Shenyang Moi Center , the once tallest buildings in Manchuria are located in Shenhe.
The Shenhe District is home to the World Heritage Site of the Imperial Palaces of the Ming and Qing Dynasties and Shenyang , as well as eight monuments from Liaoning Province and the Sacred Heart Cathedral .
