Shyamal Bose

Shyamal Bose (born March 24, 1961 in Gosaba , West Bengal ) is an Indian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Baruipur .

Life

Shyamal Bose visited the minor seminary in Barasat and then studied at the Regional Seminar Morningstar in Barrackpore and at St. Albert's College in Ranchi . On May 5, 1991 he received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Baruipur .

After activities in pastoral care, he headed the diocesan social service center Palli Unnayan Samiti from 1998 to 2006 . At the same time he was Vicar General and Chancellor of the Diocesan Curia of Baruipur from 2000 to 2006 . After two years as a pastor in Thakurpukur, he studied in Bangalore from 2008 to 2010 and obtained a licentiate in Biblical Theology . Until 2016 he was pastor in Kumrokhali and then diocesan economist and again chancellor of the diocesan curia.

On 17 May 2019 Pope appointed him Francis the Coadjutor Bishop of Baruipur. The Archbishop of Calcutta , Thomas D'Souza , donated him episcopal ordination on June 24 of the same year . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Baruipur, Salvadore Lobo , and his predecessor Linus Nirmal Gomes SJ .

With the resignation of Salvadore Lobo on May 4, 2020, Shyamal Bose succeeded him as Bishop of Baruipur.
