The Sidelenhorn (also Zeltspitz ) is 3217 m above sea level. M. high mountain in the southern Uri Alps , about three kilometers north of the Furka pass . The border between the Swiss cantons of Uri and Valais runs over its summit .
Geographical location
South of the Sidelenhorn, separated by the Sidelenlücke ( 3,109 m above sea level ), lies the Gross Furkahorn , which drops over the Klein Furkahorn to the Furkapass. To the north leads a ridge in the 3113 m above sea level. M. high Galensattel, from which the Galengrat leads to the Galenstock . The lower part of the Rhone Glacier flows to the west and the basin of the Sidelen Glacier to the east.
Summit routes
The normal route leads from the Hotel Belvédère over the Rhone Glacier and the Galen Glacier to the Galensattel, from there on the western flank over loose blocks to the summit. The easy alpine tour was first climbed in 1892 by O. Kielsberg and JJ Schiesser with Zgraggen. The south-east ridge of the Sidelenlücke offers short climbing in IV difficulty .
