The seal of the Marshall Islands has a blue background that represents the sea.

On the blue background there is a stylized " spirit of peace ".

Behind it are two islands with an outrigger canoe and a palm tree. The seal also shows an old tool and a fishing net.

At the top left and right of the shield there is a white and red stripe, which can also be found in the flag of the Marshall Islands . The white band represents the Ratak (sunrise), while the orange band symbolizes the Ralik (sunset).

The star symbolizes the Christian crucifix. The 24 rays stand for the 24 administrative districts of the Marshall Islands, the four large rays for the four main districts: Majuro, Ebeye, Jaluit and Wotje.

There is a traditional staff card at the bottom of the shield .

At the top of the ring around the shield it says in English:

" Republic of the Marshall Islands "

At the bottom of the ring it says in Marshallese :

Jepilpilin ke Ejukaan. "
