Siegfried Brave

Siegfried Tapfer (born July 9, 1900 in Neumarkt , South Tyrol ; † March 27, 1981 in Innsbruck , Tyrol ) was an Austrian gynecologist .

Life

A native of the South Tyrolean Neumarkt Siegfried Brave turned after graduation to study medicine to which he in 1924 with the graduation to the Dr. med. completed. After years of residency combined with further training , Tapfer completed his habilitation in 1938 as a private lecturer in the subject of gynecology at the University of Innsbruck , in 1943 he was promoted to associate professor there , one year later appointed to the head of the University Clinic for Gynecology, and in 1953 appointed full professor. Siegfried Tapfer retired in 1964 .

Siegfried Tapfer, who was appointed Chevalier de l'ordre de la Santé Publique in 1950 and was awarded the Great Silver Medal for Services to the Republic of Austria in 1968, is one of the leading researchers into the hormonal control of pregnancy and childbirth.
