The Schubert band was a rock band in the GDR . It was founded in 1973 as the Sieghart Schubert Formation . The members included the singers Holger Biege and Katrin Lindner as well as the violinist Hans Wintoch .

The Sieghart Schubert Formation was founded by the composer , trombonist and keyboard player Sieghart Schubert and other musicians as a jazz rock band . The line-up included three wind instruments. In 1975 there were several line-up changes, and from then on the band played melodic rock and pop music. From 1975 the members included the singer Holger Biege and the bass guitarist Peter Rasym . Further members were Hans Wintoch (violin), Eberhard Struch ( guitar ), Hans-Joachim Müller ( percussion ) and drummer Wolfgang Stielke. The first hit was farewell to summer . Biege started a solo career in 1976 and was replaced by singer Katrin Lindner, who had already been with the band for a few months. Lindner was previously a member of the College Formation and Wir bands . Hans Wintoch left the band in 1978. In the following year Mike Demnitz took over the bass guitar.
In 1978 the name was changed to Schubert-Band . Associated with the renaming was a turn to rockier pieces. Sometimes the band also operated as the Katrin Lindner & Schubert Band . In 1981 the band's only long-playing record , Heiße Tage , was released under this band name. Ingeburg Branoner wrote most of the lyrics , while Schubert composed and arranged the pieces. Michael Kind wrote the piece I am the clown .
With the renaming in 1978, there was another change in line-up. Three new musicians joined the band: guitarist Udo Weidemüller came from ergo and Obelisk , bass guitarist Michael Schiemann was previously with Lift , and drummer Waldemar Janicki came indirectly from Magdeburg .
In 1982 the band reduced itself to the trio Schubert, Lindner and the drummer Andreas Bauer. In 1985 Schubert and Lindner retired from the stage and worked as music producers in their own studio in Quadenschönfeld in Mecklenburg .
